We’ve updated the color temperatures of our waterproof strip lights to make the purchasing process more transparent for our customers. This change reflects the unique way silicone coatings affect light output and helps ensure you select the right color temperature for your needs.

Why Waterproof Strip Lights Are Different

Most waterproof and water-resistant strip lights are encased in a silicone coating that protects them from moisture. However, this coating also affects the light's color temperature, making the light color appear cooler in temperature compared to non-waterproof strip lights. For example, a non-waterproof strip light with a 3000K color temperature will appear closer to 4000K once coated.

New Color Temperature Names

To minimize confusion, we’ve separated our waterproof product pages from their non-waterproof counterparts and relabeled the color temperatures of our waterproof strip lights to reflect their true appearance. These updated names make it easier to understand how the silicone coating affects light output:

• Natural White (3400K): Previously "Soft White" (2700K)
• Balanced White (4000K): Previously "Warm White" (3000K)
• Bright White (5800K): Previously "Cool White" (4000K)
• Ice White (10,000K): Previously "Day White" (6000K)

Has Anything Else Changed?

No—only the color temperature names have changed. The actual strip light specifications remain the same, including brightness, waterproofing, and SKU number. If you’ve purchased a waterproof strip light before, simply refer to the new name that corresponds to your previous selection.

For example, if you previously purchased a Warm White (3000K) waterproof strip light, you’ll now want to select Balanced White (4000K) for the same color output.
