aspectLED's Ultra-Thin series of recessed lights are bright, energy efficient, attractively styled, and designed to fit into the tightest of spaces, making them perfect for virtually any residential or commercial application.

At under 1" tall, these recessed can lights can fit into tight spaces that a traditional recessed ceiling light cannot, such as ceilings with ductwork/piping/obstructions, hot-roof ceilings with limited vertical clearance, and tight soffits.

This 9 Watt light puts out the equivalent brightness to a 6" standard recessed can with an incandescent 65 Watt flood bulb.

FAQ

What light color should I choose?
Warm White is equivalent to a standard incandescent light color and is most popular for residential applications. It has a slight warm yellow glow to it that many people find comfortable and we are all used to seeing in our homes. It is a 2700-3000K on the Kelvin Light Color Scale.

Cool White is equivalent to a standard CFL or Fluorescent light color and is most popular for commercial applications, although it is also used fairly often in residential. It puts out a pure white without any yellow undertone. It is a 4000-4500K on the Kelvin Light Color Scale.

DayWhite™ most closely replicates natural daylight and does have a slight blue hue to the light output. This is rarely seen in residential applications as the light output can seem a bit harsh and bright, and is most commonly seen in exterior or commercial applications. This is the brightest of the White light color options. It is a 6000-6500K on the Kelvin Light Color Scale.
Does this fixture need a housing or a can? How does it affix to my ceiling?
aspectLED Ultra-Thin lights do not require a can, housing, or box to attach to. They do require an electrical junction box in the ceiling to house the external driver and your wire connection to 120VAC. The light itself inserts directly into your drywall cut out and is held in place by high tension springs.
How is it installed?
The light is supplied with an external puck style driver to convert from your power source (120VAC) to the power level the light requires to operate; the driver has a 6” pigtail for you to make your connection to your 120VAC power source. These you would house in a standard electrical handy-box or junction box (immediately above your fixture if you have room). The dimensions of the external driver can be found in the product detail specifications. To finish you simply plug the light into the low voltage side of the driver, and insert the light into your cut out.
What if I don’t have space for a junction box?
If you are dealing with clearance constraints or limited access, you can locate your junction box, driver, and 120VAC connection up to 100 feet from the light location. By extending the low voltage side of the connection with our 2 foot, 5 foot, 10 foot or 20 foot extension cables, or alternatively, you can use 14 or 16 gauge stranded wire and crimp connectors (select the gauge of wire based on the distance of your run. Always reference a wire gauge chart to determine accurate gauge for your application.
Can I daisy chain or connect multiple lights together?
Yes, just make sure that your wire gauge is adequate to support the distance you are running from your power source to the lights and the number of lights on your circuit.
How long is the wire pigtail length on a recessed light?
There is approximately 9" of wire lead between the fixture and it's external LED driver. There is approximately 6" of wire lead from the input side of the driver that you can use to connect to your input wiring.
Can I have multiple Ultra-Thin lights on a single driver?
Each Ultra-Thin requires its own driver to operate correctly. To achieve the low profile; key components have been transferred from the light fixture to the driver unit. The light cannot function without its individual driver.
Does aspectLED recommend a particular dimmer switch for use with this fixture?
Yes, we recommend the following dimmer switches:
Lutron Skylark SELV-300P
Lutron Diva DVELV-300P
Lutron Maestro MAELV-600
Lutron Caseta ELV+
Leviton Super slide 6631
Leviton Super slide VP106
Leviton super slide VP105-1
Leviton Vizia VRE06-1LZ
Eaton-Cooper AL Series
Is this fixture IC rated?
aspectLED’s recessed in ceiling light fixtures give off low heat when compared to an incandescent fixture; they are IC rated for direct contact with insulation, and are also approved for damp environments like showers and bathrooms.
Is this fixture UL listed?
The entire Ultra-Thin product line is UL and cULus listed.

This calculator applies only to low voltage (12 or 24VDC) recessed lights. If you're chooseing 120VAC lights, you can ignore this section as you don't need a power supply. When using low voltage LED recessed lights, a power supply (sometimes called a driver or transformer) is used to provide the LED lights with the low voltage power that they need to run. The power supply connects to standard house current (120VAC) and steps this current down to 12 or 24VDC. In automotive or marine applications, this power can be supplied from a 12vdc or 24vdc battery. The most popular low-voltage choice used by residential and commercial customers is 24VDC, since it is still a safe low voltage and yet it provides more protection against voltage drop, and consumes less current. If you have any questions about sizing your power supply, please don't hesitate to chat live with an LED expert.

Select the wattage per fixture that you're planning to use. You can find the fixture's wattage under the product specs/overview tab.

Choose your preferred voltage. 24VDC is most common for residential and commercial applications.

Enter the total number of lights that you want to connect to your power supply. When you're completing a large area or room, you would typically use multiple power supplies, one for each "zone" or group of lights that you want to control. So, you'll need one power supply for each dimmer or switch that you want.

Simply round *up* to the nearest power supply size. Remember that it never hurts to go larger with your power supply, but your lights will not operate properly if your power supply is too small. If needed, you can also use multiple power suppliesto meet your consumption requirement.
The minimum power supply size automatically adds 20% to your total consumption to account for voltage drop and in-rush current at startup, also, most inspectors will consider the power supply a current generating device and they won't let you load it over 80% continuous, so the 20% added solves for this as well.
