These rough-in brackets make installing our recessed LED lights in new construction applications a breeze. Simply install the rough-in plates at your designed locations before installing drywall, have your drywallers cut/router the holes for your lights using the rough-in plate as a guide, and then snap your recessed light into place after drywalling is completed.

What is a rough in plate?
Rough in plates allow you to plan your lighting layout prior to hanging drywall and they hold the precise spot in the ceiling where the light fixture will be mounted. They also act as a guide for the drywallers to cut out the fixture hole using a roto-zip router. Our rough in plates are designed specifically for our recessed lights to make it quick and easy to make perfectly sized cut-out holes every time.
Why do I need one?
It’s perfect for simplifying layout planning. Just layout your light fixture spacing based off the joists before hanging sheetrock. Then, once the ceiling is ready for fixture installation, you can easily cut the holes out and mount your light fixtures.
Is it required?
While many contractors use them to save time for new construction or large scale remodels, there are some local codes that require rough in plates. Please check with your local inspector on building and electrical codes.
