Casambi 5 Channel PWM Controller Installation Guide
Overview
This installation guide walks you through how to properly wire, mount, and configure the Casambi 5 Channel PWM Controller for use with constant-voltage LED lighting systems, including single color, tunable white, RGB, RGBW, and RGBCCT setups. It covers required tools and components, step-by-step wiring instructions, app pairing within the Casambi network, and key troubleshooting tips to ensure reliable performance. - Wire strippers
- Small flathead screwdriver
- AL-CTLR-CBU-PWM5PRO Casambi RGB+CW Controller
- Class 2 Constant Voltage Power Supply (12V DC or 24V DC)
- Lead wire
- LED strip light (compatible with Single Color, CCT, RGB, RGBW, or RGBCCT configurations)
- Smartphone or tablet with the Casambi app downloaded
- Optional: A compatible Casambi touch panel controller or remote.
Always practice S.A.F.E.T.Y. on the job site to protect yourself and your equipment:
S: Shut off power.
A: Ask a licensed electrician if needed.
F: Follow NEC guidelines.
E: Equip yourself with proper PPE.
T: Treat the wires as live.
Y: You are responsible.
This PWM dimmer is installed between a 12-24V DC power supply and your constant-voltage LED load.
1. Prepare your wires: Strip the ends of your input and output wires.
2. Connect the power supply: Locate the side of the controller marked INPUT (CLASS 2). Connect the positive lead from your 12V or 24V DC driver to the (+) terminal. Connect the negative lead to the (-) terminal.
3. Wire the LED load: Locate the side marked OUTPUT (CLASS 2). Connect the common positive (+) wire from your LED strip to the top (+) terminals. Connect the corresponding negative wires to the appropriate channels (-R, -G, -B, -C, -W) depending on whether you are running single color, tunable white, RGB, RGBW, or RGBCCT.
4. Placement Mount the controller in an area where the operating temperature remains between -4°F to 122°F (-20°C and 50°C).
1. Create a Network: To learn how to create a network and more about the Casambi app, check out the Casambi App Installation Guide.
2. Add the Device to Your Network
- Add the Casambi touch panel and your lighting devices to the same Casambi network.
- Open the Casambi App and tap "Nearby devices".

- Tap the PWM5-Pro in the list.
- Tap "Add to (your specific network name)” to successfully add it to the network.

3. Select the available profile that matches your wiring (e.g., RGB+TW, RGBW, Tunable White, or independent channels).
For a fully utilized 5-channel RGBCCT setup, use the following connections:
Input: 12V DC or 24V DC to the (+) and (-) INPUT terminals.
Output:
- (+) connects to Common (+) on the LED strip.
- (-R) connects to Red (-).
- (-G) connects to Green (-).
- (-B) connects to Blue (-).
- (-C) connects to Cool White (-).
- (-W) connects to Warm White (-). Note: The maximum output current can be split across all connected channels or utilized by a single channel.
Flickering or erratic behavior: Verify that you are using a constant-voltage driver. The PWM5-Pro is engineered to provide a flicker-free lighting experience when paired with standard DC power.
Device shutting down: The device is protected against overload. Double-check that your total LED load does not exceed 5A on a 12V system or 4.16A on a 24V system.
App won't connect: Ensure the controller has power and is within Bluetooth range of your smart device.
